The future of the European handball has been always in a strict relationship with the successful partnerships the EHF managed to sign with respected companies that have ensured the efficient workflow during the EHF EUROs, the VELUX EHF FINAL4 or Women's EHF FINAL 4.
The outfitting, the top balls and the state-of-the-art flooring system have always been one of the top priorities of the EHF, with the EHF EURO 2018 ticking all boxes in this instance.
“Very happy with what happened”
Salming Sports AB has been the official outfitter for the EHF and EHF Marketing GmbH since 2016, as the Swedish company is just completing its first ever Men’s EHF European Championship.
“The current agreement that we have in place is currently our biggest one yet. The EHF EURO, as well as the VELUX EHF Champions League and the Women’s EHF Champions League are amazing, everything is so well taken care of. Until the final weekend, I watched the event on TV and I am very happy with everything that has happened,” says Gunnar Oesterreich, Marketing & Communications Manager for Salming.
The Swedish brand is one of the fastest growing brands in handball and is also known for its high-quality products in running, floorball and squash and has a four-year agreement with the EHF that runs through the end of the 2019/20 season.
“The Swedish team was, of course, in my focus, and I am delighted about their performance until now in the tournament. Handball at this level is an amazing sport. I liked a lot what I saw,” adds Oesterreich.
Salming’s parallel deal with the European Handball Federation, sees the federation’s top referees kitted out in Salming apparel through to 2019/20 across all of the federation’s competitions including the EHF Champions League, EHF Cup and EHF EURO events.
“This cooperation has been building our brand in the last two years and I think it is a situation of win-win,” says Oesterreich.
The All-star team vote has been presented by Salming and lucky voters can win vouchers for the Salming webshop.
“I am biased, because I represent a Swedish company. I think Appelgren should definitely be the best goalkeeper of the tournament. To be honest, I think a good guess would also see Nikola Karabatic as the best playmaker,” concludes Oesterreich.
“A great partnership”
The health of the players is one of the most important aspects of the games, therefore EHF is aiming to offer the best possible conditions in its flagship event in the EHF EURO.
The flooring system supplied by Gerflor provides the best possible playing conditions and has been a staple during the events organized by EHF, both in men’s and women’s handball.
The ‘lagoon blue’ and black floor is also implemented at the EHF’s final season events including the Men’s EHF Cup Finals, WOMEN'S EHF FINAL4 and the VELUX EHF FINAL4.
“EHF represent the best organization for orchestrating such huge handball events, so we are honoured to be partners at the EHF EURO. The competition was a great success, it is a huge job to prepare, but it all went to plan. EHF has a high level of professionalism and we knew that all was going to be fine beforehand,” says Lionel Arlin, Sport Federations and Events Manager from Gerflor.
Gerflor has also provided an unique floor for the Men’s EHF EURO 2018 Live Show, a daily live broadcast from Zagreb, who kept the fans up to date with all the news from the Men’s EHF European Championship.
“Our partnership is great, we do our best to deliver the best floors and we are maximizing our visibility during this event, with customers and potential clients,” adds Arlin.
The EHF has been working with Gerflor since 2004 to provide the EHF EURO for Men and Women events with a high-quality event floor which satisfies the needs of both the athletes and the requirements of a modern top class event.
“Thrilled of how the event unfolded”
It was also the first Men’s EHF European Championship to be played with SELECT sport balls, as the Danish company provided state of the art equipment. SELECT has lived up to the expectation, delivering a ball with the corresponding national colour of the host nation.
“We are thrilled with how the event unfolded and we are looking forward to the next EHF EURO tournaments ahead of us. We were happy to see Denmark proceed to the medal round and we were excited to follow an unpredictable tournament,” said Peter Knap, CEO of SELECT.
“EHF is a very important strategic partner for us and together we will continue to further develop European handball. There is no doubt that two such historically established organizations have a lot to give each other. This agreement shows we take responsibility and work together to develop the product and experiences,” added Knap
SELECT Sport A/S is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of hand-sewn balls. The innovative, Danish company with a long and exciting history manufactures around three million balls a year and has been providing match balls for all of the federation's competitions from the EHF Champions League through to the EHF EURO and Younger Age Category events from 1 July 2016.
