It is a fitting name for a Tornjak, the Croatian shepherd dog and mascot of the EHF EURO 2018 in Croatia: Tor.

On Wednesday's "Night of Handball" gala evening the Croatian Handball Federation presented the mascot's name which had been chosen after more than 700 fans participated in a naming competition.

The seven lucky ones who had suggested Tor as the mascot's name received a Croatian men's national team jersey with the name Tor and the number 18, as a symbol for the EHF EURO 2018 in Croatia, printed on it.

At the gala itself the newly named mascot met the Croatian men's national team just a few days before it left for the World Championship in France, but also many famous former players such as Ivano Balić, Blaženko Lacković, Davor Dominiković, Damir Bičanić, Igor Vori, Vedran Zrnić as well as many other guests such as Milan Bandić, the Mayor of Zagreb.

The Croatian Handball Federation also announced that the first tickets for the EHF EURO 2018 will go on sale on 1 January. Fans will be able to purchase them here on www.ehf-euro.com.
